A cop (Ian Casselberry) pulls over a van without any plates on a rainy L.A. night. There’s increased stress in the air of the City of Angels because of current violence between the police and the residents they’re expected to protect. The police orders the driver to leave the vehicle and can pick up something is very incorrect. body cam film review.
A flashback that loops us back to the van scene presents us to our genuine protagonistsRenee (Mary J. Blige) and Danny (Nat Wolff). Of course, Renee is returning to the force after some time away due to injury and Danny is young enough to be called the new person even though he’s truly not.
Even the racial and gender dynamic of Renee feels woefully untouched and could have added a much-needed layer of social commentary. Renee and Danny come across the scene with their colleague after the reality and find carnage. A fellow police has been completely murdered and Renee sees something supernatural on the dash web cam video, right before it vanishes permanently.

Reliable character actors like David Warshofsky and David Zayas complete the cast, however this is truly simply a piece about Mary J. Blige browsing dark spaces with her flashlight for what looks like forever. “Body Camera” has a deadly pacing problem. There are sequences of expedition by flashlight that seem like they’re never ever going to end, where stress turns to dullness.
It’s the only way to explain it. She’s capable of great emotion and depth, however she looks half-asleep at times, barely interested in the movie she’s making. Part of the problem is the tinny discussion that seems like it was taken out of a police movie clich handbook. There’s not a single scene of credible character interaction in this motion picture.
